Crested Butte has some of the greatest hiking trails in the world and the options are endless. Our location inside the National Forest is ideal for hikers that want to literally hike from their front door. Right from the resort, there is a beautiful 2 mile on trail along Cement Creek that is perfect for morning walks with coffee and the dogs, a morning run or a fun hike with the kids. For those looking for more exercise and adventure, you can hike up to the old Pioneer Warming Hut on “Kathy’s Trail”, or try to hike to the summit of Cement Mountain through an area designated by the forest service as a future wilderness area.
Across the river are two more main forest service trailheads for the 409 Farris Creek trail and the Walrod Trailhead. The Farris Creek trail is locally know as the “caves trail” as it hikes up to some beautiful caves and wildflower meadows. The hikes from the resort are just a small sampling of the hiking in Crested Butte.
